Two Weeks Into the Gold Era: What Shipped
Two weeks of the Gold Era
It has been just over two weeks since the season reset. This post covers everything that shipped since then: clearer buildings, a fairer assassinate roll, battle log exports for Supporters, native plugins, and a long list of fixes big and small.
Buildings got a lot clearer
- Armory level 1 is now free for every player, including new accounts and anyone who resets. It used to cost 750,000 gold and unlock nothing on its own, that was a quiet trap.
- Every building now has a "View all levels" page showing all 10 levels at once: the cost, what you need to unlock it, and exactly what it gives. No more guessing what's coming.
- Upgrade cards now show what you have now and what you get next, side by side, including anything the level unlocks (a new unit tier, a new mission, new gear). They used to show only the next level, so you couldn't tell what you already had.
- A player with no Fortification now consistently shows no fort HP everywhere (profile, Quick Attack, spy reports). "Shelter" is just the name for having no fort yet, not a real building with hit points.
- Barracks and Mine income were rebalanced so a level that unlocks a new worker or unit tier doesn't also quietly lose you income along the way.
What these changes don't fix: several of you have pointed out that buildings currently unlock in lockstep with your Fortification, so a handful of them open all at once every time your fort levels up. That's a separate, bigger question about how progression should pace out, and it's still being actively discussed with the community on Discord. Nothing's been decided yet, we'll post again once it is.
Combat and spying
- Full Reconnaissance is now free. It still costs 2 turns, but no more gold. Spy away.
- Assassinate was rebalanced. A successful hit now kills a flat 6 to 11 units, down from 10 to 51. Reports after the reset showed assassinations wiping out a third or more of a small army in one hit, that wasn't the intent, and it's fixed.
- We found and fixed a bug where Mine level 4 only required Fortification level 2 instead of level 3, letting it unlock a tier early. The 9 affected players were reverted to level 3 and refunded in full to Salvage Funds (139,068,500 gold combined, covering both the building and the unit tier difference).
- Fixed a bug where a defender who had already used up their daily damage protection became briefly unkillable for the rest of the day instead of just taking reduced casualties.
- Spy anonymity is tighter. A victim could previously work out who scouted or sabotaged them by testing names against the incoming spy log. That hole is closed.
New: export your battle and spy logs (Supporters)
Supporters can now export their full battle history and spy operations as CSV or JSON, with filters for date range, direction, result, and opponent. It's built for spreadsheets: it exports exactly what you already see on those pages, nothing more, nothing less. Find it on Battle Logs and the Spy log.
Quality of life
- The attack list has a new, sortable Army column, and a clan tag column too.
- The community-built Calculator, Spy Info, and Core plugins are now built into the game (Settings > Gameplay > Companion Plugins). No separate browser extension needed. Thanks to Angel_of_Nothingness for building the originals.
- The notification bell now has tabs: All, Combat, Forum, Other, each with its own unread count and a working "Mark all read."
- You can now choose how the forum's sidebar counter behaves (every new post, only your own topics, or off entirely), and how level-ups notify you (inbox message, bell alert, or nothing).
- Inbox messages got a "Mark all read" button.
- Dashboard has three new stat tiles: Net Worth, Total Units Trained, and Salvage Funds, reorganised into two clean rows.
- Daily Summary now supports Day, Week, Month, and This Season views, not just today. Note that projected figures (like turn income) for anything beyond today are estimates at your current rate.
Clan safety
Disbanding a clan now requires typing the clan's tag to confirm, enforced by the server, not just the page. Every disband is archived first, so if something ever goes wrong, it can be recovered.
Terms of Service updated
We added a new section covering the forum, clan descriptions, player bios, and in-game messages: what's not allowed (the usual, illegal content, hate speech, doxxing, spam and scams, and so on), and that this content reflects the views of whoever posted it, not ours. Worth a skim if it's been a while since you last read it.
Fair play: 18 accounts suspended across two cases
Two multi-account reviews wrapped up this week.
The first: 13 accounts found being run together to build up and funnel gold to one player: Saladin (the main account), and _GHOST_, Leonidas, Gurkha, Monster, Lionheart, Goryo, oldskool, Genghis Khan, FinalCountdown, Demon, xPower, and Attila. None of the accounts shared an IP, VPNs make that trivial to dodge these days, so this came down to a deep review of logged activity across training, deposits, item purchases, timestamps, and more, cross-checked across all 13 accounts. Every account was tied to the others by several independent pieces of evidence; none was flagged on a single data point alone. Credit where it's due: this one was Rihoj's find and investigation.
The second, reported by multiple players and ogac: 5 more accounts run out of the same clan, funneling gold into the clan bank: Raianseier (the clan leader and main account), and HUGH JASS, MOMst3r, Ass-ass-in, and ZerikFeyt. Unlike the first case, these accounts shared IPs directly, and their sessions moved to a new IP together, within seconds of each other, every time the connection changed. Deposits and training actions lined up within minutes of each other on an ongoing basis. Only Raianseier had Discord linked.
All 18 accounts are now suspended. ToS section 4 doesn't allow multiple accounts used for an unfair advantage, and every case like this is reviewed by hand before any action is taken. If you think an account of yours was caught up in either of these by mistake, DM a staff member.
Behind the scenes
We ran a broad security and stability pass across the game: tightened input handling across dozens of pages, closed a few bugs that let confirmation prompts ("Are you sure?") get silently skipped on some actions, and fixed a rate-limiter bug that was locking a handful of players out of actions entirely. Nothing here should have been visible to you except things now working more reliably.
Smaller fixes worth knowing
- Giant, Ent, Dwarf, and Halfling now display correctly (singular) in the attack list and on profiles.
- The Overall Rank description on the Rankings page now correctly lists all four combat stats it's based on, not just offense and defense.
- Several dashboard and building-card color issues were fixed, including text that was unreadable in Safe-for-Work mode.
- Fixed a bug where the daily Supporter auto-recruit credited citizens but not the matching gold.
- New accounts, resets, and the season reset now all give you the exact same starting resources: 15,000 gold, 350,000 banked, 150 citizens, 250 turns, and 6 hours of protection. These had quietly drifted apart from each other.
What's next
We're still working through more feedback from Discord, including a few other balance questions under discussion. Keep the reports coming, a lot of what's in this post started as a Discord message.
Thank you for playing!
